We appreciate the time and effort that your application will take. The application guidelines are hopefully simple and clear and will help you make your best case to us. Please read them carefully.

They aim to tell you everything you need to know including:

  • what we do and don’t fund
  • why type of grants we make and guidance on their possible size
  • key information we need to learn from your application including your/ your organisation’s work, its impact, its finances and the plans for funding the work
  • length and format of application
  • application process

Funding Categories

Cancer's Research, Medical's Research

For individuals, teams and institutions, up to 3- 5 years initial funding. Research funding available to advance scientific discovery relating to health and wellbeing, particularly cancer, with creative approaches that push boundaries.

Ground-breaking discoveries are more likely to occur in collaborations between a diverse range of people, funding is available for partnerships, teams, etc. 


Young people aged 16-27

Applications from individuals, groups or registered charities to help fund:

  • young people to realise their potential and pursue their career aspirations
  • individuals who are aspiring sports stars in a variety of fields
  • individuals who are aspiring stars in the performing and visual arts
  • students studying for vocational qualifications or their Masters or PhD.

Communities

Applications from community groups or registered charities:

  • Support for local communities to drive their own positive change
  • Funds for programmes that help people and communities overcome the many challenges they face.


General Welfare

Applications from individuals or registered charities to help fund:

  • Care and support particularly for the elderly and patients with chronic conditions
  • Solutions to the problems affecting vulnerable people that have been overlooked or under-resourced at a local, regional and national level.



Conservation Projects

Applications from established groups or registered charities:

  • Preservation, conservation and repair of locally important building for daily use
  • Conservation for works of works of art, objects, records and collections for public enjoyment.

Heritage, Art, ...

Applications from established groups or registered charities:

Restoration, maintenance and access of nationally significant buildings.

Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, ...

Applications from certain individuals or groups or registered charities.


Funding also available under certain circumstances for:

Project funding/ Specific activities

 Grants for a specific are of work within a defined timescale.

On-going operating/ day to day costs

Grants to help fund the day to day costs of your organisation or staffing.


Capital Funding/ Start Up

Fir building works or substantial repairs or one-off project start-up costs.

How to Start

Those seeking funding seeking funding should: - Apply in writing or email The Director This should be done at least three weeks before a committee meeting. Committee Meetings are listed on the web site


  • Funding should be requested as far in advance as possible as the Trustees are keen to know more about the particular causes they are supporting, therefore early application for all types of funding would be desirable.


  • For major items/projects likely to be in excess of £25,000 up to £1m, on certain circumstances even more, application should be made ideally at the start of each calendar for the January meeting. Additional application will be considered in April or September meetings.


Occasionally, trustees may wish to meet with applicants before any decision is made.
